Our Motto – ‘Children learning through Discovery’
Mission Statement:
At Campbelltown Community Preschool we support children to further develop their knowledge and skills to the best of their abilities and we encourage all children to become active, independent learners. By focusing on nurturing children’s love of learning we enhance the ability for a smooth transition into formal schooling.
Philosophy Statement:
Campbelltown Community Preschool is a friendly, welcoming place where all children and families are respected and can develop a sense of belonging. As educators, we are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards to provide the highest quality of early education and care for all children.
In relation to ‘Children’
We believe:
- All children should feel safe, secure and supported in the Preschool early learning environment.
- All children should have a sense of belonging and be valued as an individual.
- All children are capable and resourceful learners, with individual learning styles and achieve learning and developmental outcomes at their own individual pace.
- Children have a right to be a child – to play, to laugh, and be spontaneous to explore, learn and to have fun.
- Children should have opportunities to work independently and as part of a team with other children and adults.
In relation to ‘Families and Community’
We believe:
- Families are children’s first and most influential teachers and therefore play a vital role in the education of their child.
- Families should feel a sense of belonging and should be acknowledged as valuable and collaborative partners within our preschool community, with the opportunity to become a preschool committee member.
- In respecting all families and their diverse backgrounds including culture, language and family dynamics.
- Positive relationships and genuine partnerships based on trust and respect between educators and families will ensure best outcomes for children’s learning.
- Community partnerships can enrich our program and learning for children, families and educators.
In relation to ‘Staff’
We believe:
- As educators our first and foremost focus is the ‘child’ ensuring that they are safe, secure and supported.
- Staff should be passionate, dedicated, motivated and continually strive for excellence.
- The use of critical reflection will identify, evaluate and implement improvement of quality practices and processes.
- Each individual staff member has varying qualities and experiences which are valued and respected within a working team.
- In continuing to be life-long learners by staying up to date with current research and literature through collaboration and undertaking professional development.
- Educators should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to developing cultural knowledge through connecting with children, families and communitites.
In relation to ‘The Learning Environment and Program’
We believe:
- Our environment should reflect and enrich the lives of participating children and families and respond to their interests, needs and diversities.
- The environment should consist of a broad range of rich, challenging and diverse experiences that are safe, flexible, inclusive to all and include an element of supported risk taking.
- Our environment should foster inquiry, knowledge and wonder about the natural world and promote respect for and an understanding of sustainable practices.
- Both indoor and outdoor environments should be aesthetically pleasing, support all aspects of children’s learning and encourage conversations between children, educators, preschool families and visitors.
- The foundation of our curriculum reflects a holistic approach to children’s learning through the provision of stimulating, hands-on experiences.
- The planning cycle is a reflection of the individual needs of each child, children’s interests, ideas and experiences which are observed and documented by educators.
- Our learning environment should reflect our appreciation for our community’s multicultural society and enhance each child’s awareness of and respect for our similarities and differences.
